Springtime in the Moulton Gorge

~ Narceus americanus Millipede protectively curled up with its head at the center ~

    We stopped to have a short break near the shore of Lynch Lake. When we started to repack our knapsack, something round fell out from between the pages of my notebook. A coiled-up Narceus americanus Millipede had almost managed to hitch a ride with us. We had seen quite a few of these large, deeply-coloured Millipedes in the moss and leaf mould at various sites along the trail.

    I took a few photos of the Millipede while it was on the move in an effort to try to get a good look at its many legs.
