journey to the center
No time to write much of an introduction, but I’ve just put up the first post in my new blog, Journey to the Center. You can get to it by clicking on the link or the above photo. I will continue to post to this blog, Burning Silo, but mainly with nature-related items.

Bon voyage, Bev.
(FYI, I wasn’t able to comment or subscribe to a feed at the new blog. There seems to be some sort of parsing error with the latter.)

I wasn’t able to comment there, either, but would like to wish you well on your journey.
I admire your strength to do what I’m afraid I would not, if the circumstances were the same, have the courage to do.
But what better place to settle your new self, than in what you find such intrigue and comfort.
May it be all you need it to be.

Dave – Thanks for letting me know. I’ll probably have to fix it later as I’m just on my way out the door — so to speak!

Hi Dave and Nina,
I think I may have fixed the comment problem. Perhaps someone can give it a shot and see if they can get it to work for them. Otherwise, I’ll fix it when I have a bit more time. Take care all. I’ll try to post something again soon — bev

There seems to be no where to add a comment there now, unless I’m missing something.
Safe travels, Bev.

This is going to be good, I think. I’m in considerable awe of your intentions, Bev. It *is* scary to make so many changes but we could all be doing that soon.
(FYI, no commenting capability as of 10:30AM EDT.)

What an undertaking … and at this time of the year! I’m envious of all your potential adventures … each day bringing something new.
We have a small guest room … Dogs are welcome! … we live near 100 Mile House but are sometimes at the condo in Vancouver.

Bev, I’m already enjoying reading your new blog. As Nina mentioned, the word COURAGE comes to mind when I think of you embarking on this trip. But also, the word WISDOM — as in having the wisdom to listen to your inner voice, which knows exactly what the right thing is to do for YOU. Doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks. Well, except maybe for Sabrina… Is she good with road trips? From the photo, it looks as though you’ve made a very comfortable space for her.
The last paragraph of your post (on the new site) was so exquisitely poignant… your leaving home, Don’s ashes, and the beautiful bouquet of flowers with all that they represent. You know, I think sometimes people don’t give bloggers enough credit for the craft that goes into their writing, simply because it is an electronic medium. I, for one, am certain that by the time you have finished this journey, the summation of your writings will be just as wonderful and compelling as the contents of the novels you described. You are quite talented and gifted. I can’t wait for the next installment!
Best wishes,
Harsi

Bev, as I mentioned earlier, travel can be scary but liberating. I once made a nice, long trip in an old VW van with a bunk my father made, and with the first dog I got as an adult. It was a wonderful experience, and I hope yours is, too. I look forward to reading about it.
By the way, it appears I need to log in to comment at the new blog, but there appears to be no way to register in order to log in.

Bev, I admire and envy you! I look forward to reading of your journey. I, too, tried to leave a comment on your new blog, but couldn’t. I wish you all the best on your journey…I wish I were going on it with you!

Hi everyone! Thanks for all of the great comments and well wishes. I’ve reached the Thunder Bay, Ontario area. Have taken lots of photos and will post them soon (just using a blackberry at the moment, so I,ll have to get that figured out. Have not had a chance to sort out the comments problem at the new blog, but hope to in a couple of days. In the meantime, feel free to leave comments here. – Bev

Hi everyone — thanks for the many encouraging comments. So far, the trip is going well. I am currently near Thunder Bay, Ontario. Will post new photos and try to get the comments working there next time I have a net connection for the laptop. Take care all, Bev

Hi Bev,
Looking forward to following your journey. Like the others I was unable to post a comment on the new blog. Can’t wait to hear more. It’s a pity that there is no road from there to here.

Clare – I was just thinking that yesterday as I crossed the border into B.C. I’ve been to all of the provinces now except Newfoundland, but I have never been up north. I should make a voyage there sometime.
