minor(?) blog problem

I’ve just been made aware of what seems to be a minor problem with my blog (reported by a regular visitor). I had to log out of my blog admin role in order to see it as it looked fine to me. When logged out, I see that it says “error 127” and a bunch of other gibberish. I’ll be taking a look at the problem later today when I have a bit more time. In the meantime, I guess just ignore what it’s doing up at the top of the page. I don’t think it’s actually impairing the operation of the blog too much – at least, not that I’m aware of. If the blog is acting up in any more noticeable way, let me know as a comment to this post, or you can email me.
[EDIT: Now the problem seems to have disappeared. Is anyone getting an “error” message in text across the top of this page when you visit? If so, please leave a comment below. Thanks! – bev]

Here’s what I see across the top of the page:

WordPress database error: [Got error 127 from storage engine]
    SELECT referer_id FROM wp_bas_refer WHERE referer_string = ”;

It’s small and really not very obtrusive, but it’s still there.

robin – I just logged out and visited and see that it’s back and is now the same message that you pasted in your comment (at least it is a smaller line of text than before). I’ll wait a few hours to see if it goes away and might run some database repair thing on it later tonight.

I see the same as robin andrea.

It’s gone now. I think you must have fixed it.

I see it still, but it is small enough that I would have missed it if it wasn’t for your post.

Hmm, my post didn’t show up.

I can seee the error at the top of the page still.

Well, when I log out of WordPress and visit my own site, it’s sometimes there and sometimes not. Seems to be an intermittent problem. It’s never there when I’m logged into admin. What I’ll probably do is run a “repair” on it tonight. I read the instructions and it says your database may be down for a few minutes while it’s doing the thing and it doesn’t always fix it (that prospect isn’t too nice). Then again, I may just leave it and see if it resolves on its own. In any case, it’s really not that obnoxious… luckily… so I won’t lose any sleep over it! (-:

I follow a number of blogs using Firefox’s live bookmarks. When that error occurs, I get “Live feed failed to load” and the feed is unavailable. That wouldn’t be so horrible if it were just that one day’s entry, but it kills the feed for the entire blog until the problem is either cleared up or the blog entry that causes the problem cycles off the list.

Although I hadn’t encountered it until today, I see the same thing – a scatter of six “WordPress Database Error” messages across the top of the page.

Gin – Okay, that’s useful to know. I probably should have left things as they were and just waited, but went ahead and tried a repair …and… disaster!! Oh well.. I’ll see if I can restore the database.

Wayne – Well, now I appear to be in a bigger mess than before. Guess that’s what happens when you mess around with something you know little or nothing about! Eeek! Not sure what will happen next. Hope I still have a blog by the end of today! :-(

Okay, now with the “WordPress Database Error” messages at the top, the feed is no longer loading in Firefox. I had my reply bookmarked separately, and I was able to get here that way. I just loaded it into Google Reader, but it will only pick up through “30 Seconds,” nothing more.

Gin – Thanks for the update on what it’s doing. This morning, I ran a “repair” program on it and it seems to have made the problem worse. Now I’ll have to see if I can get my webhost support to take a look at the problem. In the meantime, I guess it won’t behave properly. Can you still get here by using the regular URL for the blog?

Hi! Why I can’t fill my info in profile? Can somebody help me?
    My login is Kisakookoo!

Kisa – I’m not quite sure what you were trying to do, but on this blog, to post, you should just have to fill in your email address and if you have a blog, you fill in the URI for that blog. You then leave your comment. Usually, if your computer allows cookies, that information will probably fill in automatically if you leave a comment in future. If you are going to the “login” link at the side, you can’t login that way as this blog doesn’t have a membership. As blog admin, I’m the only one who can login. Hope that helps.
