she came in through the bathroom window

In mid-August, this distinctively marked moth was found walking on the screen of the bathroom window. I invited it in for a brief visit, during which I shot several photos. I haven’t had time to do more than a quick peruse through moth images looking for an ID, but so far, no luck. Would any of you happen to know which species this is? Doug T? Cindy?

EDIT: In the comments, Doug wrote: “On the moth, I’m liking the Brown Angle Shades (Phlogophora periculosa). What do you think?”

That sure looks like the same moth to me. Thanks, Doug!

Well, I realize that I’ve been rather silent for the past couple of weeks. I’ve spent the past month trying to deal with the many tasks associated with the death of a spouse. It all takes a lot of time and energy and *a lot* of phone calls. In any case, I believe I’ve taken care of almost everything that is required. Fortunately, I had quite a bit of help from my mother and brothers as well as a close friend.

Now, I’m wrapping up preparations for a long journey that should, if all goes well, last for the next few months. It’s likely that the route will take me west across Canada, then down through Idaho, Oregon and California, before circling southeast to spend winter in Arizona. After that, I don’t know. I’ll be posting more about the trip fairly soon — here on Burning Silo, as well as on a new blog which I’m in the process of creating. Once things are underway, I’ll post the URL here for anyone who might be interested in following along.
